Wide Angle

Image Bank- Wide Angle

In this photograph the technique of wide angle has been used to make the subject look bigger than it is in real life.

Again the same technique is used. In this photograph the buildings at the front of the image are shown looking bigger than the see surrounding them, this would not be the case in reality, however by using a wide angle it allows the buildings to look bigger.

Another picture that uses a wide angle is the above, the trees are shown to be a lot taller than they would without the use of a wide angle, the three tree trunks also seem to look bigger.

In this photograph a wide angle has also been used to make the subject look bigger, in this photo the railings look a lot bigger than they would in real life, this is easily shown when comparing the size of the railings to the boats in the background.

A clear use of wide angle is shown in this photo because the subject, being the bottom of the Eiffel Tower is shown to be much larger than the top, whereas in reality the bottom would not be this much larger than the top.

This photograph is very similar to the above image of the Eiffel Tower, the bridge on the right hand side of the image seems to be a lot bigger than the other end of the bridge, this is due to the technique of wide angle.

Minimum Depth of Field

Image Bank- Minimum Depth of Field

In this image the technique of depth of field is used. This is shown through the use of focus, the front part of the image is in focus and then the background is blurred.

The same technique of depth of field has been used in this photograph. The object at the front of the image is in focus whereas the object in the background & the background itself is not in focus.

This photograph shows the depth of field technique through the use of the flower at the front of the image being in focus and the others in the background are out of focus.

This image uses a reflection to show depth of field. The reflection is in focus, whereas the actual women herself is not in focus. This photograph is in black and white.

In this photograph the technique of depth of field is shown through the patterns on the fish, the front of the fish is in focus but the back is not. The background of this image is also blurred, as part of the technique.

This image is very similar to the photo above of the fish. The head of the snake and part of the snakes body that is at the front of the image is in focus. The rest of the snakes body and the background is not in focus and is therefore blurry.

Work Diary- Image within an image

During todays lesson I had to do a location shoot for the technique image within an image. To do this I had to take two pictures and overlay them on top of one another and then inside the frame I would rub out the top layer in order to see the image behind. I then used the same image within an image technique and made a video. If I was to do this lesson again I would experiment with the different photos I could take as my images were very simple.

In this image I took two separate photographs and put them over the top of each other. I had the model hold a frame to create the technique 'image within an image', to do this I rubbed out the top layer inside the frame to allow the bottom layer to be seen. The first picture I took was of the model holding the frame and then I took a second picture of the flowers behind the model so it looks like you can see through her. When editing this photo I changed the levels and curves to make the flowers more vibrant and due to it being a very sunny day the picture looks very summary and bright. If I was to take this image again I would experiment with the different angles I could get the model to hold the frame.

Image within an Image

Image Bank- Image within an Image

This image shows a image within an image through a photo frame. One image is the two children holding the photo frame and the second image is of the couple within the photo frame. The image in the photo frame is slightly brighter than the other photograph.

In this photograph the same technique of a image within an image is used. However in this photo the second image is on a phone and then the first is the background image. The background is slightly blurred to make it look different from the photo on the phone.

This photo is very similar to the first photograph as they are both wedding photos. A photo frame is also used to have another photo within one image. Again the image in the frame is slightly brighter.

In this photograph a frame has also been used to create the effect of the image within an image technique. The first background image is in black and white and the second image is in colour so that the images are clearly different and separate.

This image again uses a photo frame to make the technique of a photo within a photo. The first background photo is very dark whereas the second photo within the frame is bright. The photo in the frame is very effective because the picture of the swing seems to come to life as it looks like the girl is coming out of the frame.

In this image the same technique is used, showing a image within an image. However this photo shows an image, within another image and then another smaller image within it. A photo frame is used to create this technique and the photos in the frames are slightly brighter. The very last small image is also of someone taking a photograph.

Sequence

Image Bank- Sequences

This image shows a sequence of someone falling of a side wall into the see, the sequences allows you to see the falling effect of him jumping, being in the air and then landing. The colours used in this photograph are very bright.

This image used the same technique as the photograph above, however this shows a sequences of someone running over hurdles.

This photograph shows the sequence of someone running at different stages. For example running up to the jump, jumping over the jump and then after he has passed the jump.

This image shows a man skiing, the sequence in this image allows you to see him step by step as he makes his movement of jumping over the other man in the photograph.

In this image a sequence is used to show paragliding, you can see the person moving off, in the air and then back in the sea, the colours used in this image are very blue and the sun set is in the background.

All of the above images show a sequence of movement step by step. For example the first photograph shows someone jumping into the sea and there is a photo of each stage.

This image shows a different technique of sequences. These photos are separate images out together in a sequence, whereas the above images are one photo. In this image you can see the sequence of a car moving.

This image shows a sequence of a couples wedding day. The photos have been arranged and then put into the sequence. This image is in black and white.
