Definition of close ups

Dictionary definition of close up photography:

  • A photograph or film image taken at a close range and showing the subject on a large scale.

Describing words:

  • Large
  • Detail
  • Close
  • Effective
  • Beautiful
  • Appealing

My definition:

  • A close up image that shows a subject/object larger than it is in reality to show extreme detail.

This image is a close up of a pomegranate. The lighting is fairly bright and it highlights the bright red colour of the fruit. The pomegranate has been cut slightly making it look like the pomegranate is bulging out the centre. This image has been taken from a front forward angle.

This image is a close up of a model, also known as a portrait. However this isn't an ordinary portrait, the model has running make-up down her face which is a very bright colour and catches the eye. The facial expression of the model seems to be that she is shocked. The models skin looks very smooth and soft. The lighting is very natural and highlights certain areas of the face.
This image is a close up of a sun flower, you can see the detail and the patterns of the centre of the flower. There is a contrast between the green/brown centre and the yellow petals. The texture of the petals are shown to be very soft and delicate. The lighting is again very bright, similar to the lighting used in the first image.
