Work Diary- 5th Shoot

During todays lesson I did a studio shoot for my personal project. I took close up photographs of different shells because my personal project is Close Ups. I used the boom light for the lighting and a plain white background. If I was to do this shoot again I would Use a black background because some of the shells were cream/white it was hard to see them clearly.

In this image I have taken an extreme close up of half the starfish, you can see the lumps and bumps it has on it. Due to the image being a close up you can see the patterns on the starfish in detail. The colour of the starfish is a vibrant pink which is highlighted by the bright lighting that I used. If I was to take this image again I would try to get the back leg of the starfish in focus and in this image it isn't in focus.

This image shows a number of different shells laid out next to each other. You can see the contrast between all the different coloured shells. There are very detailed patters and shapes on the shells. I used a white background although you cannot really see it in this image and the boom for lighting. If I was to take this image again I would take a more extreme close up image rather than just a close up.

Again my influence behind this shoot came from Corrie White's work as within this shoot I incorporated the use of vibrant colours.

As a result of this shoot I am going to continue to use bright colours in future shoots when possible as I believe colour plays a key part in close up photograph as I have found from research. For my next shoot I a going to photograph flowers in the studio as I prefer to use the studio rather than location & I have chosen to photograph flowers as they have bright colours.
